Publication

Advaita Ashrama is a publication house of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math, Dt. Howrah, West Bengal, India. The Ashrama publishes books on Ramakrishna-Vivekananda-Vedanta literature, focusing on subjects such as Meditation, Hinduism, Personality Development, Self-help, and Inter-Religious Harmony in multiple languages.

Book Stalls

Advaita Ashrama houses book sales counter for selling books, photos, articles, lamination etc. to individual customers. Digital media is also used to market & promote the life-giving teachings of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda-Vedanta literature.

Welfare Activities

Advaita Ashrama undertakes welfare work for the benefit of the poor and marginalized sections of the society mostly within the vicinity of the Ashrama on a limited scale. Nearly 130 poor families are provide rations twice every month. 

Religious Classes

Spiritual classes and Public lectures on various topics are held on most weeks. Topics such as the Life and Teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Vedanta, etc are covered during these classes and lectures. 

Cultural Activities 

Advaita Ashrama conducts various cultural activities to promote moral and spiritual values among the youth and the public.

Musical programs such as singing of bhajans, stotras, sruti-natak are held regularly preceding the spiritual discourses by visiting monks.

Public Library

Advaita Ashrama, Kolkata has been maintaining a public library and a reading room with 13,997 books and 36 newspapers and periodicals.

The library subscribes to more than 30 national and international print journals and 5 newspapers for the benefit of the readers.

OUR ACTIVITIES AT MAYAVATI

Spiritual Retreat

Swami Vivekananda had founded Advaita Ashrama at Mayavati to facilitate the practice and preaching of Advaita Vedanta. He envisioned the coming of serious spiritual aspirants to this holy place with the intention of seeking the Ultimate Truth.

Welfare Activities

The Ashrama conducts reliefs camps in several villages of the Kumaon area, mainly in the Lohaghat, Champawat, Barakot, and Pati blocks. A team of one or more monks, accompanied by volunteers and paid staff, go to these villages to freely distribute among needy mountain people sweaters, shirts, trousers, hoodies, and other items.

Guest House

There is a small Guest House at Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati, with limited facilities. The summer guest season is from 11 March – 20 June (dates may vary). The autumn guest season is from 11 Sept. – 20 Nov. (dates may vary) The period allowed for a devotee to stay here is 2 or 3 nights

Prabuddha Bharata Office

Prabuddha Bharata, or Awakened India, is a spiritual and cultural English monthly of the Ramakrishna Order. It was founded in 1896 at the behest of Swami Vivekananda. The journal’s editorial office has been operating from Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati, uninterruptedly since March 1899 till present. 

Mayavati Charitable Hospital

Since 1903 Mayavati Charitable Hospital caters to thousands of people in this remote and backward region of the Himalayas, who come here daily across hills and dales, sometimes trudging a distance of 80 or 100 km for medical assistance. 

Prabuddha Bharata Editorial Work

Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati, houses a library with more than 14,000 books and 40 journals. Carefully curated and specialized in philosophy and religion, the library has a wide corpus of rare books.
